First aid and CPR training programs
First aid programs are 14-16 hours long, inclusive of different topics that focus on the emergency medical services (EMS) system. Listed below are some of the popular topics taught in the program.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Automated external defibrillation (AED)
- Wound care
- Injuries that compromise circulation and oxygenation
Stand-alone classes for CPR/AED are also available. AEDs are machines that supply the heart with needed shock-through pads on the chest. These stand-alone programs are available in three levels, lasting 4, 5, and 6 hours long respectively.
Nanaimo First Aid instructors are all certified by St Mark James. They have hourly rates so you can book them for special training at home or for company events like conferences and workshops. Just send an e-mail or give me a call to inquire about booking them.
Certificate cards are awarded to students who are able to complete a training program. To pass, a student is required to have complete attendance, at least 75 percent on the written exam, and good skill demonstration. Wall-mount certificates are also available upon request.
Certificates are only valid for three years and can be renewed if prerequisites are met, through recertification programs. Standard first aid recertification is about 8 hours long, inclusive of CPR level C recertification.
