Nanaimo First Aid is a training service provider affiliated with St Mark James. Classes on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are very affordable, and held throughout the week, including evenings and weekends for popular classes. Scheduling is really flexible with Nanaimo First Aid. The website has a complete list of available classes and an online registration form for signing up.
Enrolment
Prospective students can complete their enrolment and registration through e-mail or telephone calls. Course rates
Rates are very affordable; the cheapest in Nanaimo, British Columbia. They are paid in full during enrolment and are inclusive of taxes, certification fees, and workplace-approved training manuals. When students drop out, they are entitled to full refunds as long as a 72-hour notice is given beforehand.
First aid and CPR training programs
First aid programs are 14-16 hours long, inclusive of different topics that focus on the emergency medical services (EMS) system. Listed below are some of the popular topics taught in the program.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Automated external defibrillation (AED)
- Wound care
- Injuries that compromise circulation and oxygenation
Stand-alone classes for CPR/AED are also available. AEDs are machines that supply the heart with needed shock-through pads on the chest. These stand-alone programs are available in three levels, lasting 4, 5, and 6 hours long respectively.
Private training
Nanaimo First Aid instructors are all certified by St Mark James. They have hourly rates so you can book them for special training at home or for company events like conferences and workshops. Just send an e-mail or give me a call to inquire about booking them.
Certification
Certificate cards are awarded to students who are able to complete a training program. To pass, a student is required to have complete attendance, at least 75 percent on the written exam, and good skill demonstration. Wall-mount certificates are also available upon request.
Certificates are only valid for three years and can be renewed if prerequisites are met, through recertification programs. Standard first aid recertification is about 8 hours long, inclusive of CPR level C recertification.
